ARRIVAL in Agats, greet by our guide, then, sail upriver to Kaimo Village, Asmat territory.

We will spend some 4 hrs of boating along the great Braza river to the hinterland. The river we are passing is the main water transport from the southern coast of Papua (Asmat region) to the hinterland.

Arrival in Kaimo in the afternoon.

Stay overnight at the local house.

After breakfast, we continue sailing up river, to Mabul Village.

We will be still on the same water body from the lowland to the hinterland village of Mabul.

We may encounter other long boats taking logistic from the lowland to the hinterland. We may also make some stops on the way.

There are few small village on the river side that we sail through, they are the home of the Asmat tribe, Manimo, and some Kombay tribe.

We will spend some 7 hr sailing today.

Overnight at our host in Mabul.

Breakfast at the local house, then together with our local Papua porter, walk to the village of Sendik a small village with 2 tree houses (at the moment, may change in the future). We will be walking along the muddy and partly wet tail from Mabul to Sendik for about 5 hours walk. The trail today is the main access for the local Korowai to the outside world. The trail is covered by the thick canopy of the rainforest, which the locals use as the place to hunt and make semi nomadic farming.

Today we will held a local daily activity done by the Koroway, a good moment to comprehend the locals daily habits. The activity will be fishing together with the local villages. We will come to the nearby river with them. Koroway take a kind of root that is crushed an dip into the water. It is poisonous for the fishes and other water creature. Sometimes they block two sections of small river and dried it up. Fishes and other water creatures will become a great prize of today team work. We will get all muddy and dirty, catch the fishes or frogs by bare hand. Children and elderly peoples will come to the river to work. After such great work, the locals will cook the catch of today, fishes, frogs, or worm, will be cooked on the open fire. Together with sago ball, those catch are eaten with big happiness. Korowai cook without any spices, if they have some salt, it will be the only ingredients add some taste to the food.

We do the same trek, the same way back from Sendik to Mabu. Arrival in Mabu in the afternoon.

Today we ride the boat again from Mabu down to Suator Area, Asmat territory.

We will spend about 9 hours on the wooden boat passing the great Braza river with it's nice landscape view, meet the locals on the way from Asmat up to Mabu or Lokbon, meet the locals fishing on the riverside, etc. Arrival late in the afternoon in Suator, then stay overnight at local house.

After breakfast at the local stilt house, then walk to motorized canoe a sail to Agats. Lunch served en-route. In the afternoon you may walk around of Agats, the sub District of the Asmat region & also visit museum in Agats which is worth to do. Stay & dinner at Asmat.

Sail to Ewer airstrip, then Fly Ewer to Timika. Overnight in Timika.
