Continue to the Royal Palace, originally built in 1866 by the French on the site of the old town. Explore the Throne Room, constructed in 1917 in traditional Khmer style with a tiered roof and a 59-meter tower inspired by Angkor Thom’s Bayon Temple.

On the palace grounds, the Silver Pagoda stands out as one of the most distinctive landmarks, housing precious treasures and exquisite craftsmanship. Conclude the city tour with a visit to Wat Phnom, a historic pagoda set on a 27-meter-high man-made hill in the heart of Phnom Penh. Built in 1372, this temple is home to four revered Buddha statues said to have been brought by the waters of the Mekong River.

Phnom Penh – Siem Reap (By Bus – 7 Hours)

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the bus station for your journey to Siem Reap. The 7-hour trip passes through the Cambodian countryside, offering a glimpse of local life and traditional houses along the way.

Upon arrival at the Siem Reap bus station, meet your driver for a transfer to your hotel. Check in and enjoy some time to relax after the journey.

Wake up early at 05:00 AM to witness the magical sunrise at Angkor Wat or Ta Prohm, one of the most photographed temples in the Angkor complex. Built in the late 12th to early 13th century in Bayon style, Ta Prohm remains largely untouched, with giant tree roots intertwined with its ruins, creating an enchanting atmosphere.

After breakfast, continue your journey to explore Angkor Thom, the “Great City.” Covering an impressive 9 square kilometers, this ancient city is home to numerous monumental structures. Enter through the South Gate, the grandest entrance, and discover the Victory Gate to the east and the mysterious East Gate (Gate of the Dead) in a serene and less-visited corner.

Visit the remarkable Terrace of the Elephants, a 300-meter-long platform used for royal ceremonies, and the Terrace of the Leper King, built in the 12th century and named after a curious statue found on its platform.

In the afternoon, set out to visit one of Siem Reap’s authentic floating villages, where families live on traditional wooden houseboats that move with the changing water levels of the lake. During the dry season, when water levels drop, the community relocates closer to the shore and relies mainly on agricultural activities. A visit to a local home will provide unique insights into daily life on the lake.

Afterward, return to the port and continue to the Silk Farm of Artisans d’Angkor, located just 15 minutes away. Here, people from underprivileged backgrounds are given opportunities to improve their livelihoods through traditional silk-making. A local representative will guide you through the farm, explaining each step of the fascinating silk production process.
